1.2 Saving files and reusing content

After a few minutes or hours working on a project using Blender, you will

most likely want to save your progress. To save a file in Blender, use the

File → Save As… menu, where you will be able to pick a folder to save

your project file. The format Blender uses has an extension of ".blend"

and will be your container for all information regarding your project.

In some cases, you will also see additional files in your folder with

extensions like ".blend1", which are backup copies from your projects

that Blender automatically creates.

One of the benefits of saving a project in Blender, besides avoid losing

your data, is the possibility of reusing some of your content. From 3D

models to WorkSpaces, you can pull almost all data from a Blender file

to later projects.

For instance, if you made a useful WorkSpace that you want to reuse in

a new project. You can quickly get that WorkSpace using the Append or

Link options from the File menu (Figure 1.10).
